Special Optics
In addition to the production of plan optics, Krombach Freiburg specializes in manufacturing optical components such as highly precise filter groups, cemented groups, or special prisms according to customer requirements. In doing so, traditional manufacturing processes are supplemented with special technologies such as bonding.
Another area of special optics that we focus on involves the processing of classic and special optical components with unique shapes. Special optical components can also be used in the fields of design and art.

The listed parameters are monitored throughout the entire manufacturing process with the necessary measuring equipment, and can be provided in the form of test reports.
A small insight into special optics previously produced by us
We machined a 750 mm diameter window for a customer’s observatory in Tenerife.
Even extraordinary components like a television award have already gone through our production.
We manufacture an optical component for one of our customers, which was used in a camera system and has been awarded multiple international awards.
Krombach Freiburg products are also used beyond the earthly boundaries and have been multiple times in space.
Our special optics not only cover glass but also a wide variety of other materials such as dental ceramics or plastics.
Areas of application
The fields of application for our specialized products are as diverse as the spectrum of precision optics. KROMBACH FREIBURG products have already been used, for example, in tire tread measurement, sight technology, in the production of a Hollywood blockbuster, an award ceremony on television, or in Europe’s largest solar telescope.

Spezialoptiken sind kein genau definiertes Feld der Präzisionsoptik, daher wollen wir einmal erklären was wir darunter verstehen. Alles was vom Standard hinsichtlich Form, Größe oder Einsatzgebiet abweicht, zählt für uns in dieses Spektrum. Dazu zählen auch Teile die klassisch vielleicht gar nicht aus Glas gefertigt werden oder die aufgrund Ihrer Form äußerst komplex sind. Grundsätzlich sind wir dazu in der Lage nahezu alle Kundenwünsche auf höchstem Niveau auszuarbeiten und umzusetzen.
